A welcoming introduction for those new to yoga—or new to the Iyengar method.
Why Iyengar Yoga Works Well for Beginners
A comfortable practice environment
Classes are taught in a calm, quiet room without music or added heat, so attention can rest on learning and awareness.
Props that support your body
Blocks, straps, chairs, blankets, and bolsters are used thoughtfully to help you understand poses and work safely—no matter your experience level.
Small class sizes
Classes usually have between 8-10 students - teachers can offer clear guidance and individual attention when needed.
A methodical, therapeutic approach
Iyengar Yoga emphasizes alignment, stability, and awareness. Many students appreciate this approach when working with injuries, stiffness, or chronic conditions.
“I was nervous about trying yoga, but the teacher explained everything clearly and made the class feel accessible. I left feeling steadier and more at ease.”
— Susan, Providence
