Fall Yoga at the Enfield Shaker Museum

September 17 - 20, 2026

We are delighted to invite you to join us for a Fall Yoga Retreat at the Enfield Shaker Museum.

Set beside Mascoma Lake in New Hampshire’s Upper Valley, the museum’s historic Shaker buildings and peaceful grounds offer a beautiful setting for focused study, quiet reflection, and deep yoga practice.

Over the course of the retreat we will explore daily asana and pranayama, with opportunities for discussions on yoga philosophy. Vegetarian meals prepared by Jackson & Dow Catering will nourish the body while the simplicity of the Shaker village provides space to slow down and settle into practice.

Participants may join the full three-night retreat (Thursday–Sunday), beginning with a Thursday intensive offering extended practice time, or the traditional two-night Friday–Sunday retreat. Commuter options are also available.

Your Teachers

Kathleen Swanson (CIYT Level 3) and Cindy Berliner (CIYT Level 3) are experienced Iyengar Yoga teachers who bring clarity, precision, and a supportive approach to their teaching. Their classes emphasize careful alignment, thoughtful sequencing, and attentive practice.

Kathleen and Cindy have led retreats together throughout New England for many years and most recently taught a retreat together in Costa Rica.

Our practice space

Yoga sessions will take place in a quiet practice space within the historic Enfield Shaker Museum. The simplicity of the Shaker buildings creates a naturally contemplative environment well suited to the careful, attentive study of yoga.

Classes will include asana, pranayama, and supported work using props, allowing students to refine alignment, develop steadiness, and deepen their understanding of the practice.

Between classes, participants can enjoy walking trails directly from the museum grounds, time by Mascoma Lake, or a short visit to nearby Hanover.

Accommodation at the Enfield Shaker Museum

Participants can stay in the historic Great Stone Dwelling, a beautifully preserved Shaker building that offers simple, comfortable accommodation in keeping with the character of the village. Each room features a private en suite bathroom with a shower.

The rooms reflect the Shaker tradition of simplicity, craftsmanship, and quiet harmony, creating a peaceful atmosphere that complements the retreat experience.

Accommodation is within easy walking distance of the yoga practice space, gardens, and woodland trails. The museum grounds provide a tranquil setting to relax between classes, explore the historic buildings, or enjoy the surrounding countryside.

Meals

Meals for the retreat will be prepared this year by Jackson & Dow Catering, known for their fresh, seasonal cooking using locally sourced ingredients.

Breakfast, brunch, and dinner are included, with tea, coffee, and water available throughout the day. Meals are typically served buffet style and designed to be nourishing and satisfying after yoga practice.

Dietary needs can be accommodated where possible, including vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, and dairy-free options.
