  • Iyengar Yoga Source 1155 Westminster St., Suite 201 Providence, RI 02909 USA (map)

Join us for the First Annual In-Studio Retreat at Iyengar Yoga Source — in Providence or online.

When:

  • Friday, July 25: 5:30–7:30 PM

  • Saturday, July 26: 3:00–5:00 PM + community meal and film after (in-studio)

  • Sunday, July 27: 3:00–5:00 PM

What we'll explore

Each session is built around one of three short yoga sutras — the guiding principles behind every posture we practice. You've already felt them in class. This weekend we slow down and look at them together.

  • Sthira Sukham Asanam — The posture should be steady and spacious. Not just held, but inhabited. Stable enough to stay, open enough to breathe.

  • Prayatna Shaithilya Ananta Samapattibhyam — Through the relaxation of effort and absorption in the infinite, posture is refined. We stop muscling through and begin to listen. The body settles when the mind does.

  • Tato Dvandva Anabhighatah — From that steadiness, we are no longer disturbed by the pairs of opposites. Heat and cold, effort and ease, a good practice day and a hard one — they lose their grip on us.

For longtime IYS students your classes have been adding up!

Check your class count in our new free studio app. Depending on where you are, you may have earned free sessions at this retreat:

  • 500 classes: Two sessions, free

Not at a milestone yet? You're still welcome.

Saturday evening: community meal

After the Saturday session, we're sharing a meal together. Bring a dish if you'd like — refreshments and dessert will be provided. Just good food and good company.
