We’re delighted to offer a special six-week online series with Pranati Pratap, a respected senior teacher from Pune, India, who studied directly with B.K.S. Iyengar, Geeta Iyengar, and continues her studies with Prashant Iyengar.
Following her well-received Ring Workshop, this new series offers students a unique opportunity to learn about the subtle art of pranayama—the regulation of the breath and the refinement of prana, the vital energy that sustains all life.
From Pranati:
“Pranayama is a compound of Prana and Ayama. Prana is the vital energy that differentiates the living from the non-living. It is necessary for all physical, mental, emotional, and organic activities. Yogic texts define Prana as the universal power of consciousness—its arrival denotes birth and its departure signifies death. Ayama means regulation; thus, Pranayama is the regulation of breath, the vehicle of prana.”
“Over these six weeks, I will guide students through positions that make Pranayama accessible, helping us become sensitive to the breath and how it carries prana throughout the body. We will also learn simple, silent utterances that enliven and energize different parts of the body.”
What You’ll Experience
Positions that make Pranayama accessible and steady
Sensitivity to the breath as the vehicle of prana
Understanding of how prana moves through different parts of the body
Simple, silent utterances that awaken and energize from within
Each class builds progressively, offering both structure and spaciousness for personal experience and understanding.
Who It’s For
This series is appropriate for anyone interested in exploring the fourth limb of yoga—Pranayama. Prior experience in the Iyengar method will be helpful but is not required.
