Iyengar yoga in Providence since 2005

Three weeks of unlimited classes for $59, for anyone new to the studio

What a class here is like

The room is a normal temperature, there is no music, and there are no mirrors. What there is instead is a teacher who watches you closely and tells you what to do next.

Iyengar yoga is precise and progressive, which means you are taught how to stand, how to use your arms and legs to support your spine, and how to use props so that a pose can do its work in your body rather than in an idealized one. Belts, blocks, blankets and ropes are not a lesser version of the practice. They are how the practice reaches you where you actually are today.

Classes are small enough that you will get individual attention, and we expect to give it to you at least once every time you come in.

Certified through a national assessment that takes years

Every teacher here holds a Certified Iyengar Yoga Teacher credential, which is earned through a national assessment process that takes years of study and is renewed through ongoing training. It is one of the few yoga credentials that means something specific and verifiable. Our teachers hold certification at Levels 1 through 3, and several have studied at the Ramamani Iyengar Memorial Yoga Institute in Pune, India.

Where to start

You do not need experience, flexibility, or any particular fitness level to begin. If you have never practiced, Foundations is where you start, and the teacher will know it is your first class because we introduce ourselves in the lobby before it begins.

If you are dealing with back pain, Yoga for a Healthy Back is built for exactly that. If you have practiced before and want more, Intermediate and Intermediate Plus are open to you, and Ropes and Restorative classes run throughout the week.

Classes seven days a week, mornings, midday and evenings. Most run in the studio and on Zoom at the same time, and your pass covers both.
